Over a period of viewing the news it has become apparent that our [American] problems cannot and will not be solved by our current government because it lacks focus and has the sole purpose to perpetuate its own existence.
American citizens need to define the purpose of their government and what their expectations of it are before they tell the government what to do. The next step is of course to pay for what is expected. Taxing is a system by which citizens support the government that exists to fulfill their needs and expectations. Taxes should NOT be used to enforce certain behaviors because it impinges upon the rights of citizens. Examples or poor practices in this area are taxes specifically for alcohol and tobacco.
If you are an American citizen or plan on becoming one sit down immediately and review what you expect from your government. Write down a list of what services you expect your government to provide. Send this list to your representatives and tell them what you expect. If nothing is done then it is your job, your duty, your obligation as a citizen, to run for office and work to better the country instead of letting it languish and die a terrible, ugly death.
The government exists and functions at the will of the citizens, not the other way around.
