Game Design Concept, "All Out War"


"All out war" is the strategy of creating a situation in which the players can be fed  experience at a constant or variable rate to whatever end the developer desires. An example would using a gauntlet style event to ensure players are appropriately leveled before fighting a boss or boss type event.

An example is World of Warcraft dungeons when a player is using them to level up for another challenge such as a new dungeon or a level split or new skill.

Another very common example is the learning phase in World of Warcraft. The player has their hand held from level 1 to 10 to teach a new player the game, but it goes fast enough that it doesn't become tedious. This pattern can be found in a few other RPG style games as well. This is mostly used with games that are expected to have the parts played through multiple times by a majority of the expected audiences.

Why Government?

In my last post I asked what do you expect from your government? Today I will put forth a broader idea of what the government exists for and give examples of how America has solidified this. While reading this place your expectations of government in this framework to see if it works out for you.

The government exists to protect the rights of it's citizens. But what are those rights and how do we protect them? Well that is up to the citizens. Our country has a Bill of Rights that lays out the rights of it's citizens and the concept of rights is also mentioned in the Declaration of Independance which states "[w]e hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." However it is up to the citizens to determine how these rights are preserved or if they are preserved at all.


It is important to note that the more of these rights you are willing to give up, the less able you become to protect your other rights or introduce new rights. Thus, you begin to live and act at the whim of the government. The Declaration states "[t]hat to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." It is noteworthy that the Declaration cautions that "[g]overnments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes."

Our American Problem

Over a period of viewing the news it has become apparent that our [American] problems cannot and will not be solved by our current government because it lacks focus and has the sole purpose to perpetuate its own existence.

American citizens need to define the purpose of their government and what their expectations of it are before they tell the government what to do. The next step is of course to pay for what is expected. Taxing is a system by which citizens support the government that exists to fulfill their needs and expectations. Taxes should NOT be used to enforce certain behaviors because it impinges upon the rights of citizens. Examples or poor practices in this area are taxes specifically for alcohol and tobacco.

If you are an American citizen or plan on becoming one sit down immediately and review what you expect from your government. Write down a list of what services you expect your government to provide. Send this list to your representatives and tell them what you expect. If nothing is done then it is your job, your duty, your obligation as a citizen, to run for office and work to better the country instead of letting it languish and die a terrible, ugly death.

The government exists and functions at the will of the citizens, not the other way around.
